Firearms Licensing Procedures

Read the Firearms Licensing Requirements / Fees

Print the Application for New/Renewal of a Firearms Identification Card or License to Carry or pick one up at the station.

ONCE YOU HAVE SUBMITTED YOUR RENEWAL APPLICATION WITH PAYMENT PLEASE SIGN UP FOR AN APPOINTMENT IN POLICE DEPT. LOBBY 

ALL NEW APPLICANTS SHOULD SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION TO RECORDS DEPT THEN CALL TO SCHEDULE AN INTERVIEW WITH LT. JOHN WALCEK

Categories of Firearms Licenses

1.        Categories of Licenses To Carry Firearms are:

Class A – Allows the holder to possess large capacity firearms, rifles, shotguns and ammunition.  Only Class A holders may carry a concealed weapon in public. Applicants must be 21 years of age.

Class B – Allows the holder to possess non-large capacity firearms (handguns) as well as large capacity rifles, shotguns and ammunition.  Class B holders MAY NOT carry a concealed weapon in public. Applicants must be 21 years of age.

2.         Categories of Firearms Identification Cards are:

Class C – Allows the holder to possess non-large capacity rifles, shotguns and   ammunition.  Weapons must be transported unloaded and in locked trunk or    otherwise encased in a locked/secured container. Applicants must be at least 15 years of age. Applicants between 15 years of age and 18 years of age must submit parental permission.

Class D - For possession of chemical spray only. Same requirements as a Class C License.
