The Wareham Board of Health has reopened all beaches in Wareham for swimming. Please refer to the Harbormasters office for information regarding shellfish closures.

For immediate release : UPDATE 11:45 A.M.
On June 23, 2014 at approximately 10:30 a.m., a sewer overflow took place on Independence Lane in Onset, MA. Approximately 2000 – 3000 gallons of waste material was released from a sewer manhole cover. The product entered the bay from an adjacent storm drain. The Division of Marine Fisheries and the Board of Health was notified immediately of the situation.
As of June 24, 2014, the Town of Wareham Board of Health and the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries have completed water sampling. The Wareham Board of Health should have results back tomorrow, June 25, 2014, to make the determination on the bathing closure.
The harvesting of shellfish will remain closed in the areas previously listed due to FDA regulations. We will update you as soon as we are able to reopen the shellfish beds.
