On Thursday, July 11, 2013 at approximately 5:30 pm, officers and detectives of the Wareham Police Department investigated a reported armed robbery incident, when an officer was flagged down by two juvenile (teen age) males at the intersection of Marion Road and Swifts Beach Road. The two males reported being robbed of personal items at gunpoint by a male in the area of Sullivan’s Liquors, located less than a quarter of a mile west on Marion Road.
The victims reported they had a brief conversation with the male suspect, during which time the suspect pointed what appeared to be a semi-automatic handgun at them and demanded personal property, including cell phones. The suspect then fled from the area on foot. After receiving information from the victims pertaining to a description of the suspect, along with information provided by detectives, a motor vehicle was stopped in the lot of Sullivan’s Liquors, at which time a male passenger matching the given description of the suspect was noticed inside the vehicle. The operator of the vehicle stated she picked up the male passenger a short distance away from the scene and transported him to the store parking lot.
Through further investigative efforts and positive identification of the suspect by the victims, the vehicle passenger, 31-year-old Toure Perry of Wareham, was placed under arrest and charged with Armed Robbery. Items of evidentiary value were recovered in the immediate area of the incident, as well as in the area traveled by the suspect while running from the initial scene, although the described weapon has not been recovered.
Toure Perry is scheduled for arraignment at Wareham Fourth District Court after being held overnight at the Wareham Police Department. Continued investigation of the incident is being conducted by the Wareham Police Department Detective Division.
