On Saturday, January 5, 2012, at approximately 9:00 pm, a female was signaled to pull over on Main St. in West Wareham by a male purporting himself to be a police officer. The 29-year-old Wareham woman reported that she had been signaled to stop by the use of a blue light in the windshield of what was described as a dark colored, mid-size SUV or pickup truck style vehicle.
When the female pulled to the side of the road, a male came to the driver side of the vehicle and informed the female that she had a defective tail light and requested that she produce her driver’s license and step out from the vehicle. The female reported that she then felt that the male was not a police officer and began to drive away, at which time the male struck her face with a flashlight, causing a minor injury. The woman left the scene and notified the Wareham Police Department of the incident immediately upon arriving home.
The suspect was described as a white male, appearing to be approximately 40 years of age, approximately 5’8” tall, with dark hair and a very distinctive Adam’s apple. The suspect was stated to be wearing a dark colored buttoned shirt under a fluorescent yellow colored jacket.
