On Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at approximately 10:30 am, officers of the Wareham Police Department responded to the Swifts Beach Road area regarding the report of two unknown males acting in a suspicious manner. The caller reported that two males in a silver Volkswagen Jetta were removing envelopes that had been attached to trash barrels. The envelopes contained gift cards and monetary gratuities intended for the trash removal employees working in the area.
Officers located the suspect vehicle on Swifts Beach Rd. and spoke with 32-year-old Albert Crepeau and 31-year-old Joshua Hands, both residents of Fall River, MA. During investigation of the incident, Mr. Crepeau and Mr. Hands made admissions concerning the fact that they had in fact stolen envelopes attached to barrels that were intended for the trash removal employees in the Swifts Beach area. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of ripped envelopes, cash, and gift cards.
Mr. Crepeau and Mr. Hands were placed under arrest and charged with seven (7) counts of Larceny Under $250. At 6:00 pm, both males posted bail and were scheduled to be arraigned on the charges at the Wareham 4th District Court on Wednesday, December 19, 2012.
Chief Richard Stanley commended the actions of the concerned citizen, who alertly reported suspicious activity that led to further investigation and the arrests of two criminals in their neighborhood.
