Three Males Arrested on Warrants and Weapons Charges

Posted on September 17, 2012

On Saturday, September 15, 2012, at approximately 5:30 pm, Officer Charles Pillsbury conducted a motor vehicle stop on Onset Avenue, after noticing that the vehicle was occupied by two males with outstanding arrest warrants. The two males placed under arrest for the warrants were 24-year-old Peter Rezendes and 22-year-old James Pires, both of Wareham. A third male, 22 year old William Black Jr. of Wareham, was also arrested at the scene when he was found to be in possession of an illegal spring loaded weapon. Officers at the scene also noticed the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and confiscated two knives from the back seat area.

James Pires and Peter Rezendes were arrested on warrants obtained by Wareham Police Department Detectives, who investigated a reported armed robbery incident that occurred in Wareham on Thursday, September 14, 2012, at approximately 1:30 am. As a result of the investigation, Patrol Officers and Detectives determined that while traveling in a vehicle in Wareham, James Pires held a machete type weapon to the neck of a male to him and demanded cash, before pushing the male out of the moving vehicle. Investigation showed that Peter Rezendes was also present during this incident, and he was charged with being involved in the criminal joint venture. The victim in the robbery incident, who will not be named at this time, was unharmed by the machete, but treated for abrasions and other minor injuries at Tobey Hospital in Wareham as a result of the incident.

The investigation of the armed robbery incident is ongoing at this time.

It should be noted that James Pires was arrested on September 11, 2012, when he was charged with being in possession of over 16 ounces of cocaine in a the parking lot of a Wareham apartment complex.

The three parties arrested at the scene of the motor vehicle stop were arraigned at Wareham District Court on Monday, September 17, 2012.
