On September 11, 2012, at approximately 2:00 pm, members of the Wareham Police Department Detective Division were conducting an investigation regarding a warrant apprehension attempt in the Woods At Wareham apartment complex, when a male was noticed acting suspiciously inside a parked motor vehicle.
While detectives spoke to the male occupant of the vehicle, identified as 22 year old James Pires of Wareham, he was noticed be very nervous. As officers continued their conversation with Mr. Pires, a metal pipe was noticed within reach of Mr. Pires, which led to further investigation.
Once out of the vehicle, Mr. Pires was searched and found to be in possession of a small knife, and a plastic bag containing what appeared to be cocaine. Inside the plastic bag were several smaller baggies containing a total of approximately 16.7 grams of suspected cocaine, which were packaged for intended distribution. Two knives in the possession of Mr. Pires were also confiscated.
James Pires was placed under arrest and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B Substance, and was arraigned at Wareham Fourth District Court during the morning of September 12, 2012.
