Middleboro Man Arrested for Drug Possession.

Posted on August 8, 2012

Shortly after 2:00 am on Tuesday, August 7, 2012, Wareham Police Department Officer George Chandler, assisted by Officer Kevin Reilly, conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Mayflower Liquors on Rte. 6&28, after noticing the vehicle operating with defective equipment. During the initial stages of the motor vehicle stop, the driver acted in a suspicious manner and made furtive movements, leading officers to investigate the incident further. Upon further investigation and conversation with the vehicle operator, officers noticed Marijuana paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

A further search of the vehicle led to the discovery of Marijuana and a plastic bag containing 92 Oxycodone Hydrochloride pills. 19 year old Andrew Cavanaugh of #83 Miller St. in Middleboro, MA was placed under arrest without incident and transported to the Wareham Police Department, then to the Wareham District court in the morning, at which time he was arraigned on the criminal charge of Possession of a Class B Substance (Oxycodone) with Intent to Distribute. Mr. Cavanaugh was also issued a Town By-law citation for possession of under one ounce of marijuana and defective motor vehicle equipment.

Chief Richard Stanley praised the alertness of the officers in this case, which resulted in the removal of a large amount of prescription drugs that could have potentially reached the streets of Wareham at some point in time.
