Female Arrested on Drug Charges

Posted on June 14, 2012

On Monday, June 11, 2012 members of the Wareham Police Department Detective Division conducted a motor vehicle stop after receiving information from a concerned citizen regarding illegal drug activity in the Swifts Beach section of town.

Shortly after receiving the information, 41-year-old Joeyna Barber of #173 Swifts Beach Rd. was stopped by Detectives and provided a false name and false identification. Detectives then learned that Ms. Barber was operating the vehicle after suspension of her license. Joeyna Barber was transported to the station, where 14 small baggies containing heroin and two yet to be identified pills were located on her person during booking procedures.

Ms. Barber has been charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class A (heroin), Possession of Class B (opiates), Operating After Suspension, Providing a False Name, and Speeding. Ms. Barber will be arraigned at the Wareham Fourth District Court on Tuesday, June 12, 2012.

Chief Richard Stanley commended the actions of concerned citizens, who will not tolerate drug users in Wareham and take steps to aid the Wareham Police Department in ending their illegal activities. Citizens are encouraged to use the Text-A-Tip program on the Wareham Police Department website, or by calling the WPD anonymous tip line at (508) 291-2300, or by calling the Detective Division directly at (508) 295-1206.
