Wareham Police Chief Richard Stanley is proud to announce the grand opening of the Wareham Police Department’s Onset Substation, which will also serve as an Information and Welcome Center in the Onset Village. The substation, which is the former Onset Water District Office building, is located at #240 Onset Avenue on the corner of Longwood Avenue. The opening of the Onset Substation will be held at 5:00 pm on Friday, May 25, 2012.
The Onset Village Substation will serve as a welcome center for area residents and visitors to the Onset Center area, and will be manned by citizen volunteers and officers of the Wareham Police Department during hours yet to be determined. The goal of the substation is to provide assistance, information, and general police related services to citizens in the area, as well to be a place where the public can meet with officers, or just stop in to say hello.
Chief Stanley and the men and women of the Wareham Police Department would like to thank the members of the Onset Fire District Prudential Committee for their consideration with regard to the use of the former Onset Water District Office building, which is owned by the Onset Water District. The opening of the substation would not be possible without the cooperation, understanding, and assistance of the Onset Prudential Committee members Marcine Fernandes and Winna Dean, as well as Clerk Treasurer Mary McCoy.
The Onset Village Substation will greatly aid the Wareham Police Department’s efforts in improving quality of life issues in Onset and surrounding areas, while creating a safer environment for residents, visitors, and area businesses. The Wareham Police Department is confident that the Onset Village Substation is destined to be an integral part of the fabric of the Village of Onset and the surrounding community.
