On Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at approximately 6:30 pm, Detective Sergeant Michael Smith was checking the Swifts Beach area of Wareham, when he noticed an uninspected vehicle parked on a dead end. Upon noticing the police cruiser, the vehicle began to leave the area, and the operator was noticed attempting to place something under the driver’s seat.
Upon stopping the vehicle, Det. Sgt. Smith noticed a knotted glassine bag containing 8 grams of suspected cocaine and crack cocaine at the feet of the driver, identified as 25 year old Wareham resident Matthew Cole. A folding knife was also noticed inside the door handle of the vehicle.
A further search of the vehicle with the assistance of Officers Blaise Lalli and Michael Phinney led to the discovery of a plastic bag containing marijuana, a digital scale, loose sandwich bags, and 4 cell phones. Also found in the vehicle was a bottle containing approximately 375 ml. of liquid Morphine, along with 2 syringes and 2 spill-proof bottles used with dispensing the liquid, as well as $394.00 cash.
Matthew Cole was arrested and charged with the following:
- Possession With Intent to Distribute Class B Substance (Cocaine)
- Trafficking Over 200 Grams Class A Substance (Morphine)
- Possession of a Class D Substance With Intent to Distribute (Marijuana)
- Operating an Uninspected Motor Vehicle.
Mr. Cole was scheduled for arraignment on the charges this morning at Wareham 4th District Court.
