Update: A Second Person has been Charged in the Jug Shop Break

On Tuesday, January 13, 2015, detectives of the Wareham Police Department obtained a warrant for a second male involved in the January 11th break and entering incident at the Jug Shop on Main Street. At approximately 1:30 pm, detectives arrested 19 year old Wareham resident Christofer Martinez (correct spelling), who has been charged with B&E Nighttime, Destruction of Property, and Larceny From a Building.    


On Sunday, January 11, 2014 at approximately 12:30 am, Officer Jennifer Braley responded to a reported alarm sounding at the Jug Shop (liquor store) on Main St. and noticed a smashed rear glass door, then noticed a person wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and camouflage pants standing behind the counter of the business.

Upon being noticed, the suspect ran to another area of the store, then out of the store onto Main Street in an attempt to flee from the area on foot, but was apprehended by responding patrol officers approximately ¼ mile from the Jug Shop on Church Ave. at the rear of St. Patrick’s Church.

The arrested suspect was identified as 19 year old Ryan Hanscome of Wareham, MA. Although Mr. Hanscome did not possess any items from the store at the time of his arrest, store items including lottery tickets and liquor were located outside the store. It should be noted Mr. Hanscome appeared to be unarmed during this incident.

Ryan Hanscome has been charged with the following:


  1. B&E Nighttime
  2. Larceny From a Building
  3. Malicious Destruction of Property (2 cts.)
  4. Disorderly Conduct
  5. Disturbing the Peace


Mr. Hanscome will be arraigned on the criminal charges on Monday, January 12, 2015 at Wareham District Court.


Further investigation of this incident and the possibility of a second involved suspect is being conducted by the Wareham Police Department Detective Division.
