On Sunday, August 2nd at approximately 7:10 pm, Wareham PD, EMS, and Wareham Fire Department personnel responded to the area of #780 County Rd. regarding a motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle and a sedan with reported serious injuries sustained by the motorcycle operator.
Responding Officer John Iacobucci immediately noticed the operator of a motorcycle, identified as 61 year old Middleboro resident Stephen G. Wibben, lying on the road with obvious serious injuries to his arms, legs, and head areas. There were no injuries reported regarding the operator and two passengers in the involved 2012 Nissan sedan, which sustained extensive damaged on the passenger side door area.
Due to the nature of the injuries sustained by Mr. Wibben, a Med-Flight helicopter was requested to the area of the West Wareham 7-11 store, and he was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment, where he is reported to be in stable condition.
The operator of the Nissan, 37 year old David Shea of Wareham, was cited for failure to yield to oncoming traffic, as investigation of the accident showed that he turned left in front of the oncoming motorcycle, which was traveling northbound on County Road.
