On Wednesday, June 21st at approximately 12:30 PM, Wareham PD officers responded to a reported vehicle accident at the 5 Star Gas & Convenience store on Rte. 28 ( Cranberry Hwy.).

Upon arrival, responding officers noticed a vehicle had narrowly missed the gas pump area and crashed through the front windows of the gas station/convenience store, causing significant structural and interior damage.

An adult customer inside the store at the time of the incident complained of sustaining a minor injury and was transported to Tobey Hospital, where he was checked and released.

The driver and sole occupant of the involved vehicle, 52 year old Laurie Texeira of East Taunton, MA, was arrested at the scene for Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol and Operating to Endanger. This is Ms. Texeira’s 2nd OUI offense.   Ms. Texeira stated she recalled traveling on Rte. 28 (southbound), then entering the building. She was not injured during the incident.
