Bicyclist and Dog Struck on Marion Road

On Monday, September 8, 2014, at approximately 7:50 pm, officers of the Wareham Police Department responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian and a dog in the area of #328 Marion Road (Rte. 6).

Upon arrival, officers noticed an adult male lying on the side of Marion Rd. with apparent injuries sustained to his legs and back. The male was transported to Tobey Hospital, then to a Boston area hospital via Med-Flight due to the nature of the injuries, which appeared to be non-life-threatening. The injured dog was transported to an area veterinarian regarding minor injuries.

Preliminary investigation indicates the male was riding a bicycle while his dog walked alongside him on the side of Marion Road in the area of Soft As A Grape, when he and the dog were struck by a vehicle traveling westbound operated by 42 year old Christian Iacobucci of Plymouth, MA., who was not injured during the incident. The area of Marion Road where the male and his dog were struck is not well lit, and it appears the male and his dog were on Marion Rd. at the time of the incident.

Investigation of the incident is onging, and the name of the victim will not be released at this time, pending notification of family members.
