On Friday, January 08, 2016 at approximately 5:00 pm, Wareham Police Department officers and detectives responded to a reported bank robbery at Santander Bank on Main Street, involving a lone male who passed a note to the teller demanding money. The male fled the bank after receiving an undetermined amount of cash. No weapon was shown by the suspect during the robbery, and there were no reported injuries during the incident.
Within minutes, WPD officers and a K-9 unit engaged in a search for the suspect were advised of the identity of a possible suspect, then tracked the suspect to an apartment at #436 Main Street, which is located within a quarter mile of the Santander Bank.
At #436 Main Street, officers located 35 year old resident Kenneth Gillpatrick, who matched the description of the suspect as described by witnesses at the bank. Mr. Gillpatrick was placed under arrest without incident and transported to the Wareham Police Department, where bail was set at $5000.
Mr. Gillpatrick will be arraigned on the charge of Unarmed Robbery at Wareham District Court on Monday, January 11, 2016.
The investigation of this incident is ongoing, and further comment will not be made at this time.
