Wareham Man Injured in Marion Rd Pedestrian Accident

On Monday, August 4, 2014 at approximately 2:20 pm, officers of the Wareham Police Department responded to the area of Marion Rd. and Swifts Beach Rd. regarding the report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, officers were alerted to a 58 year old male who had been struck while apparently crossing the roadway in the crosswalk from the area of the Wareham Service Station to the area of the Wareham Country Market. Although the investigation is in its preliminary stages at this point, it appears the male was attempting to cross the roadway in front of a slowing vehicle in the travel lane and was struck by an eastbound vehicle traveling in the passing lane of Marion Road.

The 58 year old male resident of Wareham, who will not be identified at this time, was treated at the scene by Wareham EMS and transported to Tobey Hospital, then later transferred to a Boston area hospital via Med-Flight. The sustained injuries do not appear to be life-threatening at this time.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the male has been identified as 29 year old Nichole Nye of Marion, MA, who was operating a 2002 Honda sedan at the time of the incident.

Investigation of the incident is ongoing. Further investigation will be provided when available.
