Wareham Police Search for a Ford Ranger after a Hit and Run M/V Crash.

On Saturday, April 12, 2104 at approximately 4:50 am, officers of the Wareham Police Department responded to the area of #64 Gibbs Avenue regarding a 70 year old male struck by a motor vehicle. Upon arrival at the scene, officers noticed Wareham resident Robert Mackenzie, who sustained serious injuries while delivering newspapers in the area. Mr. Mackenzie was treated at the scene by Wareham EMS personnel and transported first to Tobey Hospital, then to Rhode Island Hospital for further treatment.

Limited information obtained from the victim led officers to search the area for a pick-up truck type vehicle (unknown plate or color) that fled the scene toward Marion Rd. (Rte. 6) at a high rate of speed after striking Mr. Mackenzie as he walked back to his parked vehicle while delivering newspapers. Damage debris at the scene suggests the vehicle could possibly be a Ford Ranger type pick-up truck.
