Several Wareham Agencies Respond to a Reported Drowning.

On Monday, July 8, 2013 at approximately 1:00 pm, Wareham Police Department, Onset Fire Department, Wareham EMS, and Wareham Harbormaster Department personnel responded to Muddy Cove off North Blvd. in the Onset section of town regarding a reported person drowning. Upon arrival at the scene, Wareham Police Department and Onset Fire Department personnel entered the water and met with two females, who were attempting to hold up an adult male in approximatley 5 feet of water. The male victim, identified as 51-year-old Dennis Maxim of Wareham, MA, was unresponsive when reached by emergency response personnel, who brought him to shore, where further life-saving measures were taken by arriving Wareham and Bourne EMS personnel.

After treatment at the scene, Mr. Maxim was transported by ambulance to Tobey Hospital in Wareham, then transported by a Med-Flight helicopter to a Boston hospital for further treatment. Mr. Maxim’s condition is critical at this time.
