Wareham Police Investigate Early Morning Stabbing

On Sunday, June 9, 2013, at approximately 1:30 am, officers of the Wareham Police Department responded to Shawnee Drive regarding a reported stabbing incident. Upon arrival, officers noticed a male lying on the street in obvious pain, due to two or three apparent stab wounds sustained to his back area.  The male, identified as 22-year-old John Roche of South Plymouth, MA, was treated by Wareham EMS and transferred to Rhode Island Hospital Trauma Center for further treatment, where he is currently in stable condition.

Although the investigation is ongoing, the stab wounds were reportedly sustained during an argument in the street that originated at a large house party at #9 Shawnee Drive. Mr. Roche sustained the injuries during an argument with at least two males.

The investigation of this matter is being conducted by the Patrol and Detective Divisions of the Wareham Police Department. There have been no arrests made at this time. Updates regarding this investigation will be provided when available.
