Armed Robbery Stop & Shop in the Cranberry Plaza

On Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at approximately 7:20 pm, officers of the Wareham Police Department responded to Stop & Shop in the Cranberry Plaza regarding a reported armed robbery incident at the Customer Service Desk. According to the reporting party, a male demanded money from the Stop & Shop employee while indicating that he was in possession of a gun, although a weapon was never actually shown during the incident. The suspect received an undetermined amount of cash and left the Cranberry Plaza in a light colored SUV type vehicle. An area search for the suspect was conducted with negative results.

The suspect in this incident was described as a white male, approximately 50 years of age with a heavy build, wearing a black shirt or jacket, a baseball cap, and sunglasses. Witnesses stated the suspect may have been intoxicated, due to his observed unsteady gait.
