At approximately 12:30 am on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 Sgt. Michael Smith was traveling on Main St., when he was alerted to small fires burning on the ground and an outside ledge at the front of #191 Main St., a three floor apartment, office, and business building. The fire appeared to have been caused by a bed sheet discarded from a third floor apartment window. The fire on the outside of the building, which caused moderate damage, was quickly extinguished by the Wareham Fire Department.

Investigation of the incident revealed that a verbal argument had taken place in a third floor apartment between residents Kally Foneallaz, age 45, and Ross Bickford, age 47. Both were arrested at the scene and charged with Arson of a Dwelling House, due to the results of the investigation of their actions during and after the incident involving the bed sheet that came from their apartment. Mr. Bickford and Ms. Fongeallaz were scheduled to be arraigned at the Wareham Fourth District Court today.

Chief Richard Stanley praised the actions of citizens who quickly reported the incident, thus reducing the amount of potential damage to the building and possible injuries to residents in the building. Chief Stanley also praised the professional investigative actions of Wareham police and fire department personnel, whose combined efforts led to the arrests in this incident.
