Two More Arrested in the Pepins Liquor Investigation

As a result of the ongoing investigation of an armed robbery incident that occurred at Pepin’s Liquors in November 2011, Wareham Police Department Detectives have charged two additional suspects regarding their involvement in the incident, during which time a male entered the store, threatened the clerk with a knife, and left with the cash register. A female accomplice, 40-year-old New Bedford resident Windy Monteiro, who walked around the store and asked the clerk for driving directions, was arrested on December 13, 2012 and charged with Armed Robbery due to her involvement in the incident.

On Wednesday, December 19, 2012, detectives charged 44-year-old New Bedford resident Paul Monteiro, who is currently incarcerated in the Bristol House of Correction on unrelated charges, and 41-year-old Kevin Pina, for whom detectives obtained a warrant. Mr. Pina, who is also a New Bedford resident, turned himself into the New Bedford Police Department on Wednesday, after Wareham and New Bedford detectives searched for him at his residence.

Although the details of the armed robbery incident are still being investigated, there are no further arrests anticipated regarding this incident.

The two males have been charged with Armed Robbery and will be arraigned at the Wareham 4th District Court on Thursday, December 20, 2012.

Chief Richard Stanley commended the diligent investigative efforts of the Wareham Police Detective Division, in particular the efforts of Detective Michael Smith, which led to the arrests of the suspects in this crime.
