Stuff-A-Cruiser 2012

The Wareham Police Department is proud to announce that the 3rd annual “Stuff-A-Cruiser” event held on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at the Wareham Target and Walmart locations was a huge success. Police cruisers parked at the store locations were “stuffed” with toys of all sizes by gracious and generous people of all ages, who were truly delighted to be a part of making a child’s Christmas just a bit brighter this holiday season.  The collected toys were turned over to the well-known Dick Melloni Youth Foundation Christmas Toy Drive. To be distributed to local families in need of assistance during the holiday season.

The generosity of people donating toys was overwhelming, with hundreds of toys filling cruisers that made multiple trips to the Melloni Foundation headquarters in Wareham.  Many people made donations in memory of family members and friends, as well as in memory of the victims of the recent tragedy in Connecticut. Children were especially happy to donate to other children who may not be as fortunate during Christmas.

On Sunday, December 16, 2012, the Wareham Police Union, in conjunction with Target, sponsored the first “Heroes and Helpers” event at Target, during which children in need were escorted throughout the store by officers in search of the perfect Christmas present. The event was successful and brought smiles to all involved.

The following WPD personnel are thanked for their participation in the recent Christmas events: Officers Dean Decas, Christopher Corner, James White, Blaise Lalli, Zina Kelsch, Herb Noble, Peter Silvia, Joe Cardoza, Karl Baptiste, who organized the events, and Lts. Kevin Walsh and John Walcek. A special “Thank You” is given to “Santa,” who looked very much like citizen volunteer Russ Brady. The officers involved were truly overwhelmed and impressed with the outpouring of generosity by citizens, especially in such difficult economic times.
