Two Arrested For Recent House Breaks

On Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at approximately 2:00 am, patrol officers of the Wareham Police Department responded to the Rose Point area of town regarding the report of an unknown male acting in a suspicious manner on Nelson Street. Although the male was not located upon the arrival of officers, a female, later identified as 24 year old Brittany Crowe, was located walking in the area. Investigation of the incident led to the discovery of a vehicle driven by Ms. Crowe parked in the driveway of a nearby home on Rose Point Ave. that had been broken into. Further investigation regarding the activities of Ms. Crowe led to the discovery of her boyfriend, 29 year old James Cyr, with whom she was staying with at #51 Barlow Avenue. Mr. Cyr, who was noticed to match the description of the suspicious male reported in the area, was found to have an outstanding warrant regarding a previous charge of B&E in the Nighttime.

After speaking with the involved parties and checking the area, officers continued the investigation with the assistance of Detective Michael Smith. During further investigation, two additional house breaks were discovered on Marine Avenue, all addresses within close proximity to the residence of Mr. Cyr and Ms. Crowe at #51 Barlow Avenue. As a result of evidence located and statements made by Mr. Cyr and Ms. Crowe, they were taken into custody and transported to the Wareham Police Department regarding the outstanding warrant and the discovered breaking and entering crimes in the Rose Point area.

During the day and evening of December 5th, officers responded to reports of two more house breaks and an illegal entry into a motor vehicle in the Rose Point area, which appeared to have occurred during the same time frame as the previously discovered incidents. Further investigation of the incidents and evidence at the scenes, along with further statements made by Mr. Cyr, led to additional charges of Unarmed Burglary regarding the newly discovered incidents.

As a result of the investigation conducted by the Patrol and Detective Divisions of this department, James Cyr has been charged with 5 counts of Burglary, 2 counts of Attempt to Commit a Crime (Burglary) and 1 count of B&E into a Motor Vehicle. Britanny Crowe, the girlfriend of Mr. Cyr, has been charged with 3 counts of Burglary and 1 count of Attempt to Commit a Crime (Burglary). While the amount of property taken from the cottages in the area was minimal, some property was recovered. Mr. Cyr and Ms. Crowe were arraigned at the Wareham Fourth District Court on December 6, 2012.

Chief Richard Stanley praised the cooperative efforts of the Patrol and Detective Divisions in solving the crimes committed in Rose Point, and especially commended the actions of the citizen who reported the initial suspicious activity in the area, which led to the discovery of the crimes and the arrests of the suspects.
