Two Purses Stolen From Patrons Of Target, Male In Custody For Same.

On Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at approximately 3:30 pm, officers of the Wareham Police Department respond to Target at Wareham Crossing for the report of a stolen purse from a patron inside the store. While obtaining information inside the store, officers were informed of a second victim, who reported that her purse had been stolen while she was shopping. According to information obtained at the store, a male in his 20’s was observed bumping into women’s carriages shortly before purses were noticed to be missing.

After speaking with two victims and witnesses at Target, officers conducted an area search for the suspect and began a trace of a reported stolen cell phone in order to locate the suspect. A suspect matching the description given by victims and witnesses was located on Main St. in Wareham during the trace of the cell phone. During conversation with 27-year-old Sean Wallace of 91 Clay Pond Rd. Bourne, MA, Officer George Dionne confirmed his involvement in the purse thefts and recovered a stolen cell phone.

The investigation into this matter is ongoing with regard to possible additional thefts committed by Mr. Wallace. Sean Wallace was charged with Larceny from a Person, Larceny From a Person Over 65, and Receiving Stolen Property. He was arraigned at Wareham Fourth District Court.
