Dartmouth woman arrested for theft.

An investigation by the Wareham Police Department Detective Division into a reported break and entering into a motor vehicle in Wareham, MA has led to the positive identification and arrest of a Dartmouth woman, who will be charged with the illegal entry of the vehicle, the theft of a credit card, and larceny of over $500 committed with the use of the stolen credit card.

As a result of the investigation, 30 year old Kristen Lynn Dacosta of #22 College Lane, apartment A, North Dartmouth, MA, was positively identified as the female that was viewed on store surveillance tapes in New Bedford, MA, where she used a stolen credit card from a vehicle in Wareham to purchase another $500 credit card. Once Ms. Dacosta was identified from the videotape photographs, an arrest warrant was applied for, along with a search warrant for her vehicle and home address. As a result of the search warrant execution in Dartmouth, jewelry was recovered at the Dartmouth residence that had been reported stolen during a house break in Plymouth, MA, which will be further investigated by Plymouth detectives.

Kristen Dacosta was arrested while attempting to hide in a bedroom closet in her Dartmouth home on February 1, 2012. Ms. Dacosta will face charges by the Wareham Police Department of B&E into a vehicle, Larceny of a Credit Card, and Improper Use of a Credit Card Over $250. Ms. Dacosta has been arraigned at the Wareham Fourth District Court on those charges. Ongoing investigation with regard to the recovered jewelry in Dartmouth stolen from a home in Plymouth, MA will be conducted by the Dartmouth and Plymouth Police Departments.

Chief Richard Stanley commended the investigative actions of the Wareham Police Department’s Detective and Patrol Divisions, as well as detectives of the Marion and Dartmouth Police Departments, who provided valuable information with regard to the identification and eventual arrest of Ms. Costa.
